Field Harvesting Wild Game

Our process is unique in the world - the first fully inspected, year-round harvesting of truly free-range wild game meat. Wild animals humanely harvested provide ranchers income and customers with the purest meat available anywhere. Broken Arrow Ranch pays all landowners for the meat harvested from their property. Our vision for a Pure process is embodied in the belief that we must create a system that is sustainable, from the herd to the landowner. In the course of a year, we will cull from over 40 unique ranch properties across the state.

Humanely Harvested Deer Venison Meat

Humane and Responsible

We conduct harvests in the most ecologically responsible way. Wildlife biologists typically set an exact number of animals to be taken to maximize the health of the herd and keep the land in balance. We create a self- regenerating economy whereby herds can grow healthier and ranches become more profitable using their natural resources. This enables landowners to keep the land healthy and wild.

Animals are quietly and quickly harvested by highly experienced sharpshooters using high powered rifles equipped with sound suppressors on the muzzle. Our policy is nothing less than surgical precision when taking an animal life and all hunting standards are strictly adhered to. Rifles, hunting and taking life is very serious for us.

Processing and Inspection Onsite

Broken Arrow Ranch’s innovative mobile processing unit follows the truck for the harvest, and game is immediately processed onsite and moved into the refrigeration unit. The required meat inspector is onsite as well, making sure all game meets food inspection standards.

Benefits to Landowners

Landowners are paid for every animal taken. We believe in making this sustainable for the people whose land we are using, and want to financially promote people’s investment in wild game populations. Herds are kept at ideal sizes, creating a stronger and more balanced ecosystem. The land becomes healthier, and Texas stays beautiful.

What We Do

Since 1983 Broken Arrow Ranch has been commercially harvesting surplus exotic deer and antelope for venison from Texas ranches. We have been a reliable and respected option for population management. The animals are processed and packaged for sale to fine dining restaurants and individual consumers throughout the United States.

How We Do It

A harvesting crew (shooter and skinner) travels to the ranch accompanied by a state meat inspector. We also tow a mobile processing facility to the ranch where the harvested animals are skinned and eviscerated. Animals are field-harvested with minimal stress by a long-distance head shot, typically 50 to 200 yards. We use a noise suppressor on the rifle to minimize disturbance to other animals. The processed animals are weighed then hung in the mobile processing facility’s built-in cooler built for transport back to our Ingram plant.

What The Rancher Can Expect From Us

We will discuss arrangements with the rancher before coming to the property. We will harvest only those animals designated. We will respect the property. We will harvest animals in a humane way and do as little as possible to disturb other animals on the property. We will gladly provide a list of references from ranches that we have been working with over the past years. Payment for the animals harvested will be made within 10 days from harvest.

What We Expect From The Rancher

We expect you to help us maximize the efficiency of our harvesting. However, we do not purchase animals that are penned in small areas just for shooting purposes. This practice stresses animals and negatively affects meat quality. Our expectation is to harvest a minimum of 15 animals in a period of 6 to 8 hours. We need a ranch representative to drive and assist our shooter in identifying animals for harvest. We will need to have availability of running water for our processing facility. Our normal harvesting area is typically within a 300 mile radius of Kerrville, TX. We will travel further on a case-by-case basis but cannot conduct harvests outside of Texas.
